1. Before using Click to DVD

-Certified DV and MICROMV devices

This software can only control consumer DV and MICROMV devices
manufactured by Sony. Click to DVD has been confirmed to work with the
above-mentioned DV device models equipped with a DV connector (excluding
tourist models) and MICROMV devices sold before the end of October 2003.
(This has been confirmed as of November 1, 2003)

DV devices or MICROMV devices with the Direct Access to "Click to DVD" function
can start Click to DVD Automatic Mode to create DVDs.
(This includes only DV and MICROMV devices manufactured and sold by Sony
after June 2003.)

-In case you use some specific Sony Digital Video Camcorders

This software cannot be used with a DCR-VX1000 or DCR-VX700 (with DV
connector upgrade).

-In case you use a Media Converter or Digital8 Camcorder

Click to DVD Automatic Mode cannot be used with a Sony Media Converter.
Click to DVD Automatic Mode cannot be used with a Digital8 Camcorder
if the tape in the Camcorder was recorded in analog mode.
Please use Click to DVD instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Restrictions

-Non-supported picture formats

This software does not support 8 & 16 bit bitmaps.

-Non-supported video formats

This software does not support DV-AVI files with a 44.1KHz audio sampling rate.

-Non-supported DVD media formats

This software does not support writing to DVD-RAM media.

-Files located on a network drive

This software cannot import files from a network drive.

-Video files located in CD-ROM or DVD-ROM media

This software cannot create a DVD with video files stored in CD-ROM or
DVD-ROM media. Please copy all video files to your hard disk drive before
using Click to DVD.

-Virtual memory settings

To decrease the number of errors that may occur during the DVD image
creation process, set your computer's initial virtual memory size to
2048 MB or greater and maximum virtual memory size to 2048 MB or greater.
For details on changing the virtual memory setting, refer to "Configuring
the Computer for use with Click to DVD" in the online help.

-VAIO Media Video Server

-This program sends unique information about this computer (e.g. the
computer's name) when transmitting data to other servers on the
  network.

 -Supported network interfaces
The following network interfaces are supported by the Video Server:
  Ethernet (100 BASE-TX / 10 BASE-T), Wireless LAN Interface
(IEEE 802.11b) that are built in to VAIO computers, and Sony Wireless
LAN Interface Card (IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11a).

-If the Video Server that you would like to connect to does not appear on
the server list, please verify that the setting in VAIO Media Console
allows access from other devices on the network. You may also need to
submit a registration request to gain access to that server. Refer to
the VAIO Media Help file for details on device registration.

-When Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) function is enabled,
Click to DVD may not be able to communicate with the Video Server.
In such cases, please disable the Internet Connection Firewall (ICF)
  function.

If the Video Server cannot be found for some other reason, please
  try the following:

  1) Please restart the Video Server by using VAIO Media Console
     on the server computer.
  2) Please restart Click to DVD.
  3) Please restart both the server computer and the computer on
which Click to DVD is running.

-Please make sure to read the Help and readme file for VAIO Media.
To display the files, click the [Start] button, point to [All Programs]
and look for the files under [VAIO Media].

-Please make sure to read the readme file for VAIO Media Server.
To display the readme file, click [Start] button, point to [All
Programs], [VAIO Media], [Server Administration], and then click
  [Readme].

-Problems in VAIO Media Video Server

When multiple clients access a VAIO Media Video Server at the same time,
importing contents may stop because of too much of a burden may have been
put on the server. In such a case, after a brief interval, please import
 contents again.

-Capturing video from MICROMV device

-Using a MICROMV device continuously for a prolonged period of time
may cause failure in capturing a segment (a sequence of video from
the moment recording started to the moment recording stopped) which
is less than 1 minute long. Please avoid from using the MICROMV
device for an extended period of time when capturing from a tape with
a large number of short segments.

-Errors may occur during the conversion process depending on DVD run
time or the number of the recorded segments when using a MICROMV
device. If the message "Cannot convert the captured files." is displayed,
please save your project, restart your computer and then try creating
  the DVD again.

-Showing a previous picture in Album

To show a previous picture in Album from a created DVD, please push the
Previous Chapter button of the DVD player twice.
For details on how to play your DVD, refer to the operating instructions for
your DVD player. The same operation is also necessary when previewing
your DVD project in Click to DVD. In regards to previewing, it will take
some time to show the previous picture in Album.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Known problems

-Previewing may not work correctly if the file format is MPEG1.

-When in the Preview Window, the Remote Control operation may not work
correctly when you click a button immediately after clicking the Stop
 button.
If this occurs, click the Stop button again and then click the other
 button.

-The video displayed on the computer screen may pause while it is being
captured from an analog video device, but this does not affect the video
being captured. Please verify that the captured video clip is OK and
continue with the DVD creation process.

-Errors may occur during the DVD image creation process. In this case,
please click "Create DVD!" again when using Click to DVD. (not applicable
to Click to DVD Automatic Mode) Also, the frequency of these errors
can be reduced by setting your computer's initial virtual memory size
to 2048 MB or greater and maximum virtual memory size to 2048 MB or
 greater.
For details on changing the virtual memory setting, refer to
"Configuring the Computer for use with Click to DVD" in the online help.
Also, the following may cause errors during DVD image creation:

-When corrupted MPEG files have been used for DVD creation.
In such a case, click "Menu", select "Settings", click the "Other" tab
and check the check box, "During DVD creation, try to repair corrupted
MPEG format files". If errors still occur during the DVD image creation
process, please also check the check box, "Convert the file to a DVD
compatible format" and then try creating the DVD again.

-When MPEG files are created with segments of "snow" included. (This
is the static black and white feed you see on a television when there
  is no signal.)
In this case, click "Menu", select "Settings", click the "Other" tab
and check the check box, "During DVD creation, try to repair corrupted
MPEG format files" and "Convert the file to a DVD compatible format",
then try to create the DVD again.

-When the path specified for the folder "Save temp file in:" is over
  100 characters long.
In this case, specify a shorter path for "Save temp file in:" such as
  "D:\Click to DVD".

-When creating a DVD with Video Capsules made by Giga Pocket Playlist
Builder, there may be a slight change in chapter start points.
To avoid this phenomenon, click "Menu", select "Settings", click the
"Other" tab and check the dialog box, "During DVD creation, try to repair
 corrupted MPEG format files."

-Sometimes the DVD Menu screen may not be displayed properly in the
 "Create DVD" window.
If this occurs, toggle between the "Create Menu" and "Create DVD" window
once to display the Menu screen normally.

-When creating a DVD or preparing to preview, "Cannot convert the captured files."
is displayed and creating a DVD (or preparing to preview) may stop. In such a case,
trying to create a DVD (or preparing to preview) again makes the possibility higher
to complete. If errors still occur, please confirm the following:

-When there is not enough free disk space on the hard disk drive
where the folder for "Save temp file in:" exists, please increase the available
disk space of that drive and try creating the DVD (or previewing) again.
When a 2 hour High Quality Video Capsule is written to a DVD disc, about 15 GB
  free disk space is needed.

-When corrupted MPEG files have been used for DVD creation.
In such a case, click "Menu", select "Settings", click the "Other" tab
and check the check box, "During DVD creation, try to repair corrupted
MPEG format files" and try creating the DVD (or preview) again.

-It may take some time before playback starts, when you click the Play All
button when there are more than 50 clips. Especially when using a
MICROMV device, it will take about 1 or 2 minutes before playback
 actually starts.

-When using a DV-AVI file exported from Giga Pocket as material, there
may be no audio when played back in the "Edit Video" window, although,
the created DVD will have audio. Please confirm the audio in preview
 mode before creating a DVD.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Using with Media Center Edition

-In order for video capture from analog device to work, Media Center has to
be initialized prior to using Click to DVD.

-A dvr-ms file is divided into clips when imported. Each clip is
 10 minutes in length.

-Please do not start Media Center while capturing from an analog device
using Click to DVD, doing so will cause capturing to fail.
